“There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.” Mahatma Gandhi
One way that YMCA Kyiv supports children and youth in the community is through an opportunity to attend Peace Camp. During the 2015 and 2016 summer, YMCA Kyiv’s Peace Camp served over 100 children and youth facing challenges in their lives, providing them with a positive camp experience. This year Peace Camp was organized on the 3rd-16th of July and more than 100 kids aged 6-16 had the opportunity to attend.
Through an engaging program, campers participated in sport, arts & crafts, dancing, drama, scouting and various workshops. Beyond learning about peace, participants learn about themselves, their dreams and goals and in the same time develop skills in leadership, communication, financial and time management.
Besides kids experience it is an amazing opportunity for the camp counselors who are YMCA Kyiv volunteers to improve their leadership skills, develop their own training course and find good friends.
We believe that YMCA Kyiv managed to create a great project of development for both campers and camp counselors with combining difference camp experience from Ukrainian/Canadian/USA camps.
Peace Camp supports the positive development of children and youth who truly need an opportunity to belong and engage in a meaningful way with others.
